Short Biography:

Pablo Picasso was a Spanish-born painter and sculptor. He moved to Barcelona in 1895 and went to a fine arts school there. He spent most of his adult life in Paris, and first went there in 1900 after studying in Madrid. He also went to another art school, but dropped out after only a couple classes because he felt it was too formal. To be different from the painters around him, Picasso chose to usually paint in the ‘classical past.’ He eventually became one of the best-known figures in 20th century art, and died in 1973 at the age of 91.

Techniques:

To be different from the painters around him, Picasso chose to usually paint in the ‘classical past’, and stayed away from modern art. He used oil paint a lot, and sometimes used it for giant murals. Many of his paintings were of women.  He also has paintings showing the results of war among people and animals, these paintings show that peace should be maintained.
