About Vincent van Gogh

Picture
Vincent van Gogh is a Dutch post-impressionist painter born in 1853. He produced more than 2,000 artworks in his lifetime but wasn't widely known until after his death. He only sold one painting while he was living. It was 'The Red Vineyard'. He painted several self portraits and paintings of landscape and sunflowers. Some of which are the most recognizable and expensive paintings ever.

In 1886-1888 he lived with his brother Theo in Paris. He studied at Fernand Cormon's studio. They had several arguments and at one point Theo said that living with Vincent was almost unbearable. But a year later, they made peace and left Paris together. They left Paris because Vincent was becoming bored and in the two years living there he painted over 200 paintings.

On December 23rd 1888, Vincent got into a fight with another artist, Paul Gauguin. He went back to his own house in Arles and cut his earlobe off with a razor blade. He then went to a brothel and gave it to a prostitue named Rachel. The police were called and Vincent was hospitalized.

Vincent died on July 29th 1890 of a self-inflicted gun-shot wound. Theo died six months later in a sanatorium.

I like this painting because it's simple but still really nice. Also, the colors really look nice together. Even though they're as simple as the subject of the painting.

I like this painting because it has really nice feel to it. It's not overly complex but it's not too simple neither. The colors are calming and makes you feel like it's somewhere you could picture yourself being.

I like this painting because it's kind of dark and creepy, to the point where it could be unsettling. This is mainly because of the dark colors and the way it's painted, with little brushstrokes.

I like this painting because it's one of his earlier painting and actually has a happy feel to it. Unlike most of Vincent Van Gough's earlier paintings. Also, the leaves look like very realistic, like they could actually be crunchy.

I really like this painting because it has a happy feel to it and the colors all blend really well together. There's several different shades of green/blue so it's really calming. Also, it's one of his earlier paintings and isn't as depressing as most of his beginning paintings.
